So, He said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by!  And a great and powerful wind was tearing out the mountains and breaking the rocks in pieces before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake, a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire, a sound of a gentle blowing. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

I Kings 19:11-13

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Most likely you are familiar with this passage of scripture from the Old Testament. It is also well known within the “Camp and Retreat” community. It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes we need to get away from all the confusion and the conversations around us, to a place where we are better able to hear the sound of “a gentle blowing” … or as one translation says, “the still small voice”.

We consider Warner Memorial Camp to be such a place.

Although Warner Camp is primarily thought of as a ministry that offers Summer Camp programs for youth and an RV Park for families, we also have self-contained cabins available for individuals and families for more personal Retreats. Which is the reason for this letter ….

As challenging as it has been (and still is!) for all of us to navigate COVID-19 and the accompanying rules and restrictions, I can only imagine how difficult it is for those who serve in a Church and shepherd the flock of our Lord. We are aware of the significance of those who serve as our spiritual leaders and have some understanding of the extra demands that come with serving in Church ministry.

Therefore, we want to come alongside those who serve the Church of God body. If you, you and your spouse, or you and your family would like to reserve Hunter Lodge for a “get away” retreat, you can do so at no cost. It could be just a day visit, a weekend, or up to a week. This also applies to staff serving in Christian leadership roles.

If this is something you would like to consider, please let us know. We would love to host you at Warner Camp. It is a wonderful place for renewal, revitalization, rejuvenation, refreshment, re-creation, and Rest.

In His Service and His Peace,

Scot Bale

Camp Director
